Cartoonist and Illustrator

KITCHEN TABLE ISSUE 3

KITCHEN TABLE MAGAZINE #3

I created a full-page splash and spot illustration to accompany Laurel Randolph’s article “Supper with the Simpsons.”

Randolph, a food writer and cookbook author, recreates recipes from Simpsons episodes and shares them on her blog “The Joy of Cooking Milhouse.” Her Simpsons recipes also appear in The Unofficial Simpsons Cookbook.

Considering The Simpsons influenced and inspired my interest in cartooning, I was thrilled to collaborate with Laurel and Kitchen Table Magazine.

I was hesitant to draw copyrighted characters, so I focused on the dinner table. Founder and publisher Brett Warnock helped with art direction.

We decided to draw a messy dinner theme, incorporating iconic Simpsons food and beverages (donuts, Marge’s Pork Chops, and Duff beer cans.)

The color was an obvious choice. We stuck with the show’s flat candy-colored palette.
